A fiery battle of wit and rhyme? Sounds like a guaranteed grand slam! Two slam teams (+ringers) enter, but only one leaves victorious! Always glorious, always fabulous.
Witness the city’s best poets represent their home venues, Austin Poetry Slam and Austin Neo-Soul, bust some sonnets, and showcase their rhymes in the Battle of the Slams! Audience members are not only invited to help decide who receives the title of Cross-City Champion, but also participate in a silent auction with items from local businesses.
All proceeds will go to benefit the Austin Poetry Slam and Austin Neo Soul teams in their journey to the National Poetry Slam 2012 in Charlotte, NC.
Tickets are $8 in advance and $12 at the door. A VIP Ticket gets you a real bonafide chair at Battle of the Slams AND free admission to the Austin Poetry Slam for the rest of July, including 3 regular slams AND the Slam Scrimmage! Woo!
The venue, Ten Oak, is a sweet new place downtown with a serious whiskey selection. We highly recommend carpooling, taking the bus or cycling to the venue! If you do decide to drive, please drink responsibly and also bring an extra $5 in cash with you for the very conviniently located parking lot right next door at 4th and Colorado!
